Common questions

Start here

A private space will not open

Enter the passphrase on a line of its own in the linked note and press Return. Check keyboard language, spaces and punctuation. If needed, choose Recover Access in Settings and use that space’s recovery key or QR code.

iCloud is not syncing

Open Notelune Settings → Sync to review the current status. Confirm that you are signed in to iCloud, iCloud Drive is enabled, storage is available and your connection is working. You can continue working offline while Notelune queues changes.

I changed or reinstalled a device

Sign in with the same Apple Account and allow private CloudKit content to sync. You still need the relevant passphrase or recovery key to unlock each private space. Keep an encrypted portable backup before making major device changes.

I need my original files

Select items in a private space and use Export to save them to Photos, Files or the share sheet. You can also create a password-protected ZIP of originals or an encrypted Notelune backup.

A purchase is missing

Open Notelune Settings → Notelune Lifetime and choose Restore Purchases. Use the same Apple Account that made the purchase. The one-time purchase does not include additional iCloud storage.

I lost both recovery methods

Notelune does not store a copy of your passphrase or recovery key. If both are lost, the encrypted content cannot be recovered by the developer. Please keep recovery keys outside the app.

I found a possible security issue

Email notelune@outlook.com with the Notelune version, platform, reproduction steps and observed impact. Never include real private media, passphrases, recovery keys, Apple Account credentials or unencrypted backups.

Before contacting support

Include the Notelune version shown in Settings, the affected device and the exact wording of any error. Do not include personal media, vault passphrases, recovery keys or Apple Account credentials.
